- For those who find the 64K requirements of QDISK to be
- restricting we have a retail version available. The retail version
- has user selectable memory requirements and some other new features.
- The cose of the retail version is $39.95. If you send in your
- registration check in that amount, we will send you the retail
- version on a floppy along with a printed manual. Please allow 2 weeks
- for delivery.

- The following is a list of the current features in QDISK:

- When a file is marked for multiple operator commands, an
- asterisk (*) will appear after the file name on the display. When any
- files are marked, all multi-operator commands will act on all of the
- marked files. The total number and size of the marked files are
- displayed under the date and time.
-
- To view the alternate key menu, hold down the <ALT> key. While
- holding down this key, select the operation you wish to perform.
-
- <ESC> will exit you from the current operation or exit you from
- QDISK if you are at the main directory.
-
- 1) Copy a file (Multi-operator)
-
- To copy a file or a list of marked files, press the <F1> key on
- the main menu or <CTRL-C> or <CTRL-Y> on the control key menu. You
- will then be asked to enter the file destination . This may be any
- valid DOS disk or directory. If there is not enough room on the
- destination disk for a designated file, you may change the
- destination diskette or choose not to copy that file. Once you have
- answered this question, the system will continue as instructed.

- 2) Delete a file (Multi-operator)
-
- To delete a file or a list of marked files, press the <F2> key
- on the main menu or <CTRL-D> on the control key menu. If the
- 'Confirm' option on the Alt menu is ON, you will be asked to enter a
- 'Y' to delete the file or an 'N' to cancel the delete funtion. If the
- 'Confirm' option is OFF, the file is deleted automatically.

- 3) Rename a file
-
- To rename a file, press the <F3> key on the main menu or
- <CTRL-R> on the control key menu. You may then enter the new name of
- the file. Any valid DOS file name is acceptable.
-
- 4) Move a file (Multi-operator)
-
- To move a file or a list of marked files to a new directory or
- disk drive, press the <F4> key on the main menu or <CTRL-M> on the
- control key menu. You may then enter the new directory name, press
- the <RETURN> key, and the file will be moved. Any valid EXISTING
- directory may be used. If the directory or disk does not exist, the
- system will beep and the operation will be canceled.

- 5) Show a new path or disk
-
- To view a new path or disk, press the <F5> key on the main menu
- or <CTRL-P> on the control key menu. You may then enter the new
- directory name. Any valid DOS drive or directory is allowed. If the
- directory is empty, you will exit from QDISK and return to your
- original program. You may also move around directories on a hard
- disk by viewing the '.', '..' and <DIR> files using the view option
- described next.

- 6) View a file or directory
-
- To view a file, press the <F6> key or the <RETURN> key on the
- main menu, or the <CTRL-V> key on the control menu with the
- highlighted bar on the file you wish to view. If you view a
- directory, you will be shown the contents of that directory. In the
- view mode, you may page-up, page-down, scroll line by line, and shift
- the screen to the sides, 8 characters at a time. The <HOME> key will
- take you to the beginning of the file and move the side shift back to
- column 1. The <END> key will take you to the end of the file in the
- current column. In this mode the search <F7> and repeat search <F8>
- keys as described in the next sections are active. To exit the view
- section, press either the <ESC> key or the <RETURN> key for a normal
- exit. You may also press the delete, rename or move keys to exit and
- start the selected function on the viewed file. You may change some
- of the view options on the Alt menu. These options are discussed in
- sections 14, 16 and 17.

- 7) Search for text in a file being viewed
-
- To search for text in a file being viewed, press the <F7> key.
- You will then be asked to select a form of data entry, either Hex or
- Text. Once you have chosen this, you will be asked for a maximum of
- 20 characters, either as a character string or as seperate hex
- values. This is the item for which you will be searching. A blank
- search key, in text mode, or an <ESC> key, in either mode, will abort
- the search. To cancel a search once it has started, press the <ESC>
- key.

- 8) Repeat search for previous text
-
- To repeat a search for text previously specified with the <F7>
- key, just press the <F8> key while still in the view mode.

- 9) Create a Directory
-
- To create a new directory, press the <F9> key and enter the
- directory name. You may place the directory in any valid directory or
- on any valid disk. If the directory you're creating is in the current
- directory, the display will be updated to show this.
-
- 10) Remove a Directory
-
- To remove a directory, press the <F10> key and enter the
- directory name. You may remove any valid directory that is empty. If
- this directory is in the current directory, the display will be
- updated to show this.
-
- 11) Mark a file for multiple operators
-
- To mark a file for multi-operator commands, place the
- highlighted bar on the file to be marked and press the gray '+' key.
- An asterisk will appear next to the file name to show that it is
- marked.
-
- 12) Unmark a file for multiple operators
-
- To unmark a file for multi-operator commands, place the
- highlighted bar on the file to be unmarked and press the gray '-'
- key. The asterisk next to the file name will be removed to show that
- the file is no longer marked.

- 13) Mark/Unmark all files for multiple operators
-
- To mark or unmark all files for multi-operator commands, press
- the gray '*' key. An asterisk will either appear next to each file
- name to show that the file is marked or all asterisks will be removed
- from the file names.

- 14) Toggle Wordstar file mode for view option
-
- To toggle the Wordstar file mode in view, hold down either the
- <ALT> key and press the <F1> key or hold down the <CTRL> key and
- press the <W> key. The status will show on the menu. This mode allows
- you to look at Wordstar document files and read them clearly.

- 15) Toggle Confirm option on delete and print functions
-
- To toggle the confirm option, hold down the <ALT> key and press
- the <F2> key. The status will show on the menu.
-
- 16) Toggle word wrap mode for view option
-
- To toggle the word wrap status, hold down the <ALT> key and
- press the <F3> key. The status will show on the menu. This option
- affects the way the text is shown in the view mode. If ON, a line
- longer than 80 characters will wrap to the next line of the screen.
- If OFF, a line longer than 80 characters will truncate at the end of
- the screen. You may see the extra text by scrolling to either side
- with the arrow keys.

- 17) Switch text Formatting in view option
-
- To switch the formatting option, hold down the <ALT> key and
- press the <F4> key. The status will show on the menu. There are 2
- options: ON/OFF. In the ON mode, carriage returns and tabs are used
- to format the text. The OFF option allows you to view a file showing
- all of the control characters. All tabs and control characters are
- shown as ASCII characters and the text shown is 80 characters per
- line, 25 lines per screen. This option is useful for looking at a COM
- or EXE file.

- 18) Change a file's attributes (Multi-operator)
-
- To change the attributes on a file, hold down the <ALT> key and
- press the <F5> key. You will then be asked for the attributes to
- change. You may change only the 4 attributes shown on the right hand
- side of the directory listing. These are: H - hidden, S - system, R -
- read only, and A - archive. By entering the appropriate letter , the
- current state of that attribute will be changed. You may enter any or
- all or these at the same time.

- 19) Print a file (Multi-operator)
-
- To print a file or list of marked files, hold down the <ALT> key
- and press the <F6> key. If the confirm option is ON, you will be
- asked if you wish to print the file(s). Enter 'Y' to continue, or
- 'N' or <ESC> to abort. If the confirm option is OFF, or you have
- entered a 'Y' from the previous question, you are then asked to enter
- the number of lines to print on a page. If you press the <RETURN> key
- only, page breaks will be suppressed. If a printer error occurs, the
- system will beep and alert you. You may abort printing the file(s) by
- pressing <ESC> at any time while the printer is running.

- 20) Sort directory display by Name, Ext, Size or Date
-
- You may change the sort order of the directory (in the display
- only) by choosing a sort option from the Alt menu. The display will
- reflect the new order. You may also press <CTRL> and then choose one
- of the following: E for extention, N for name, S for size or, T for
- date and time.

- 21) Change the printer device (Lpt1-Lpt3 are valid)
-
- To change the printer device, hold down the <ALT> key and press
- the <P> key. The printer port will change to the next available port
- number.

- 22) Directory notes
-
- To attach a 31-character description to a file, hold down the
- <ALT> key and press the <N> key. The directory information will be
- overlaid by the file descriptions. You may edit these descriptions
- using the cursor keys, the backspace key, and the return key. Press
- the <ESC> key to return to the main directory. The data is stored in
- a file in the directory you are currently viewing.

- 23) Speed search for a file name
-
- To quickly locate a file in a directory, type the first letter
- of the file name. The highlight bar will move to the first file with
- that letter as its first character. If no file is found, the system
- will beep. Each subsequent time you press the same letter, you will
- move to the next file with that letter. After the last file is found,
- the highlight bar will loop back to the first file found; unless only
- one file exists, and then the speaker will beep.

- 24) Exit QDISK and remain in the directory being displayed
-
- To exit QDISK and remain in the directory you are currently
- viewing, hold down the <ALT> key and press the <E> key. You will then
- be placed in the drive and directory you were just viewing.
- 25) Change the colors used in QDISK
-
- To change the colors used in QDISK, hold down the <ALT> key and
- press the <C> key. You will be placed in the color selection screen,
- with the current colors shown in the window area on the left hand
- side of the screen. Use the cursor keys to move side to side or up
- and down to select the appropriate colors. When you have finished
- your selections , press the <RETURN> key and you will be returned to
- the main screen.

- **** NOTES ****
-
- If you have any marked files, and you press the <ESC> key to
- exit the program, you will still have those files marked when you
- re-start the program.
-
- The on screen clock will appear to stop working during heavy
- disk or printer usage. This happens so that these functions will not
- slow down. When you are in the QDISK main menu, the system will beep
- on the hour.
-
